Rick’s Reflections from the Bay Area

Jill and I are finishing our second of three terms in our program at Stanford and look forward to spending much of the summer back East. In the past few weeks we conducted two workshops for 60 second year MBA students who were soon graduating. We customized the content to be a “best of” from both our Life Vision and Dating & Marriage workshops. We told the MBAs we were convinced that they would have successful professional careers – then challenging them, “How many of you will flourish over the coming decades in all aspects of your life?”

It is clearer to me than ever how critical an ingredient inter-generational friendships are for flourishing lives. In the Bay Area there is a palpable buzz to lead or be part of a startup and entrepreneurs (whether for profit or non-profit) constantly seek competitive advantage. Part of their quest is to get advice from top venture capitalists, in addition to funding.

I think of Telemachi as “leader startups,” with the ability to leverage their personal human capital through relationships with Mentors. It is a win-win for both generations and reaps benefits over decades.

We encourage you to sign up for one of two optional workshops on Thursday the 12th:Journey of Generosity (led by Generous Giving) which several Telemachi and Mentors have given rave reviews for, as well as an Introduction to the Enneagram led by Ian Cron for those who have not been able to take this outstanding offering in the past.

We are currently working on the schedule for two video-chat fellowship groups. Please look for a sign-up email in the coming weeks.

Finance Manager
We are delighted to welcome new Telemachus team member, Lori Vickers, who joined us as Finance Manager in February. Lori has worked for 16 years as a bookkeeper and does part-time accounting for the Jericho Partnership in Danbury, CT. She and her husband, Tim, have two sons and attend Walnut Hill Community Church.

We want to thank Heidi Geyer for her excellent work in the finance role as she steps down to devote time to her job with an accounting firm and focus on her health. As many of you know, Heidi has had significant challenges related to her double lung transplant. Please join our prayers for her and her husband, Bryce.
